Where to go: Klara Beach

I just spent my saturday with friends at The Klara Beach, Lampung. The name Klara is actually stand for 'Kelapa Rapat" *kelapa=coconut and rapat..mmh..what?tight?hhahaha*  well.. as you may see in your way to the beach, there are a lot of coconut trees and it grow close to each other *very creative  indeed ;D*

From Klara Beach we can take ship to the nearest island which *people said* have a better beach than the mainland. However, it was quite windy when we were there so we didn't have the chance to sail :(

So we decide to rent a small hut in the beach and start to cook the fish that we bought earlier in the fish market and ate at the beach. The rest of the day was spent by swimming at the beach. The water is swallow, but you have still have to be careful with your step. I accidentally got a lil cut on my foot from stepping something *a rock perhaps* sharp.

Here are some the pics I took in there..

Where to go: Teluk Kiluan part 2

our vacation at Teluk Kiluan continue to the second day, and the main event was dolphin cruise. Teluk Kiluan is well-known for its dolphin population and if the weather is good and the tight is not to high, and..with a little..mmh,,no, make it a lot of luck..you'll be able to see lot,,and looot of them swimming freely in a group.

We have to start early if we want to see the dolphins, the local fisherman already gathered at 6.30 a.m with their boat called jungkung , a small boat that can take up to three person. The ride to the place where the dolphins usually swims take about 15 minutes, a new experience for me to be in a boat THAT little to sail right to the OPEN SEA. It was both scary..and awesome.. :D.

After sailing for about half an hour, our boat still can't see any of the dolphins, and looking at the other boat from the distance, i could tell that their luck wasn't any better than us. Well, it seems like we already sailed forever when our fisher man said we had to called it off for today as the weather were not looking good. Feeling sad and disappointed, there were nothing else we can do at the moment but to head back to the beach.

However, on our way back to the bay, the fisherman change the direction of the boat all of sudden. I didn't realize it for while, until I see a black fin in the distance and then my friend start to yell 'DOLPHIIINS'. And there they are..one..two..and then, we realized we sailing right on top of the herd and still a lot of them not too far form us. I can't explained our feeling that time. Well, you have to experience it your self i think ;) .

Right after we arrived at the beach, we know that out of the 8 small jungkung that sailed, we're the only boat that manage to see the dolphins that day. Such a great great way to start this 2012  ;)

The rest of the day was spent at the little island beach till noon. The view from there was also unforgettable. It makes you wanna come back again,,and again.. It was some how felt like you watched 3D painting of beach, mountain, reef, and little boats sailing back and forth.

We headed back home at 4 p.m with a lot things on mind..one thing for sure..we will come back and enjoy the place when the weather is nice and the time is little bit longer.

A litlle note for you who want to travel to TelukKiluan :
  1. Our trip was all set up by the KiluanDolphin crew, do check their twitter account @kiluandolphin. It includes the ride, place to stay *you can choose either tent or room in their cottage*, jungkung, and they also rent the snorkeling equip.
  2. Bring you own snorkeling equipment if you have one, for the beach right in front of the place we stay is really nice for snorkeling.
  3. Bring flash light, underwater camera, SUNBLOCK..dont forget to bring the highest SPF you can found.
  4. Bring snack, mineral water, softdrink and easy to serve food, because you are far from any store.
  5. Travel after march for a whiter sand and clearer beach *so they said*
  6. As I said, the road is not so smooth..so if you wanna travel with your own car, make sure you bring a big one XD.

Where to go: Teluk Kiluan

I have to tell you guys about my new year eve at Teluk Kiluan, Lampung, Indonesia *googling it, and I believe you understand what makes me this excited XD *. Sitting on the beach, snorkeling, watching star, searching for dolphins! yes.. a real life dolphins. It was amazing!!..

Ah Well, first thing first, the adventure started on Saturday, 31st of December, when our travel agent picked us at 8 a.m from my office *it is the best meeting point for me and 6 of my friends*. Teluk Kiluan is 4-5 hours driving from Bandar Lampung, and gotta warn you guys that the trip to Kiluan is an adventure of its own, about half of the road are in bad shape *I've read it before and still..I want to go :) *.

However, along the way you will see nature at it best, from driving beside the beach *you'll pass couple of beaches such as Klara beach*, then looking at the green rice fields, the mountain, until the sea view from high above..for me, it's all worth the journey. When we arrived at the Teluk Kiluan's gate, our 'off-road' adventure is not over yet. But looking at scenery from the gate, our excitement become extremly high from there.

After a long way down the hill, crossing a little river, and driving through villages, we finally arrived at the 'basecamp' *its what our driver called the place*. We took a small boat *and guess what, its not the smallest boat we're goin to ride there* from the basecamp to our camping ground. Camp? yes..we did camp there, in a tent, how cool is that? hahaha.. We finally arrived at 1 p.m.

The problems are, december is rainy season, and there is this wind blowing from the sea making the shore not as clean as it has to be. But the scenery is still breath taking..white sand, clear water, starring at the mountain, and just across our beach, lays a small island with amazing beach.

We took a rest, look around the place, and then start to snorkeling near the beach till our heart content. The rest room is limited so we need to be patient before we can clean our selves, but it's okay as waiting in Kiluan, for me was actually a great and peaceful time on the beach looking at the ocean. When the night fall we were simply sitting at the dock looking at the night sky till dinner served. Food was never taste so good, well..obviously we were exhausted, plus the fish was very fresh and on top of that, we ate at the beach hearing the sound of wave. Relaxing :D

Midnight was marked by the endless fire work and sounds of trumpet, and just before we realized it..it 2012 already. Such a great way to end a year..cant wait for the morning to do some dolphin cruise.
